AirKitty

Make the physical world socially visible.

A privacy-first social-discovery layer that helps people already nearby find genuine overlap and start meaningful conversation.

Currently piloting with the School of Digital Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The Idea

Reveal the overlap that makes saying hello worth the social risk.

Most apps help you find people online. AirKitty does the opposite. It reveals who is right here, right now — by what you both genuinely love, not by who you look like.

Each user is a constellation of five to eight specific interests. When two constellations are in the same place, the things you share light up between you. Names, photos, conversation — those come later, after both of you opt in.

The result is a quiet, real-world way of finding the people you'd already get on with — the ones you walk past every day without knowing.

Conversations start with substance.

"Shared spaces are full of potential — but people remain invisible to each other."

Social feeds are remote. Messaging apps assume you already know who to talk to. Historic nearby-social products failed on safety and trust. AirKitty is built around a simple, unsolved question: who around me right now is actually on my wavelength?
